Napa LTC Ombudsman provides advocacy services for residents in long-term care facilities in the county of Napa. The services are mandated by Federal and State laws. Our services are free and confidential.

The Napa Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program began as a program of the Volunteer Center in the 70's. It moved to its present location at 1443 Main Street #125, in 1998, when it became a direct service of the Area Agency on Aging Serving Napa and Solano counties. Program staff and volunteers are mandated by federal and state law to advocate for Napa's 2,000+ residents in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) and Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE), from American Canyon to Calistoga. They visit facilities on a regular basis, SNF's once a week, and RCFE's once a month, getting to know the residents and gaining their trust. Ombudsmen investigate and help to resolve complaints made by or on behalf of residents. They provide a presence at facilities, monitoring conditions and care, and providing a voice for those unable to speak for themselves. In California, Ombudsmen are also mandated to investigate complaints of abuse in licensed facilities, complaints against any agency, business, or individual involved in providing resident care.
